once new, now old

Tea dyed books. I dyed some books that I picked up at the thrift store. I "defaced" them, made up a batch of strong black tea, and soaked the books for several minutes each. There are a few ways the same affect can be achieved. I saw a post by Savvy Southern Style and she talked about her sister who had bought a stack of books like these ones I have here. Savvy showed how she aged the books and tied them up with jute string. They add texture and interest to a vignette, not to mention, they are white with a homemade patina!

christmas cheer!

I love this time of year! Getting reacquainted with those treasured items that make our home sparkle with holiday cheer is one of my favorite things in the world. It's sort of like the first Christmas present of the season. Opening each bin, fetched from storage, to find a beautiful gift inside.
