once new, now old

Tea dyed books. I dyed some books that I picked up at the thrift store. I "defaced" them, made up a batch of strong black tea, and soaked the books for several minutes each. There are a few ways the same affect can be achieved. I saw a post by Savvy Southern Style and she talked about her sister who had bought a stack of books like these ones I have here. Savvy showed how she aged the books and tied them up with jute string. They add texture and interest to a vignette, not to mention, they are white with a homemade patina!

  1. I know my pictures are extremely blurry, but you get the idea. If only my sister Michelle were here to help me with this camera!

Love that mirror your hubby made from the Destin pics. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

  4. PS You do still have letter verification ON, so you might want to turn that off to make it easier for folks to leave comments. That was one of my suggestions too. Just go under Comments and check OFF on Comment Letter Verification.

  6. Hi Marie! This is a great project. I love the texture that books add.

I wanted to let you know, too, that you left your comment on the wrong post for my giveaway. :-( In order for it to count for the giveaway you need to leave it on the giveaway post: http://roomremixblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/giveaway-220-from-csn-stores.html. Sorry about that!

Congratulations on starting your blog! It can seem a little overwhelming at first, but you'll soon be a pro at it :-)
